We deliberately don't touch diagnosis. Our work starts when the phone rings and continues through intake, verification, the visit summary, the recall, and the payment. If your chair time is fine but your front office is underwater, that's the gap we fill.
Videa's core is FDA-cleared detection on radiographs (caries, periapical radiolucency, bone level, calculus) surfaced to the clinician in real time. It's a strong product in a category we don't enter.
The Dental Passport belongs to the patient. It lives in their Apple or Google Wallet, checks them in with a scan, keeps their health history, x-rays, signatures, and insurance, and travels to any dental office on earth, including one that has never heard of us. If they move, switch dentists, or land in an emergency chair abroad, the record goes with them.
Videa's Patient View is a display on the practice's screen during the appointment. The practice's tool for explaining findings, explicitly labeled patient-education and not FDA-cleared. The patient doesn't own it, carry it, or take it anywhere. There is no patient app, wallet pass, or portable record.
Clinical notes and insurance verification. Our notes draft from your schedule and land in the dashboard for review and signature; verification runs before visits so the plan is confirmed when the patient sits down.
Voice Notes (ambient documentation) and AutoVerify (verification) cover similar ground, alongside Clean Claims. If you're already paying Videa for those, the honest question is whether you also need the phones, intake, recall, and patient record, because that's where we're not comparable.
Bridge team chat, Send file transfer, and the Patient Passport are free, permanently, not as a trial. Most practices meet us there and upgrade when the free tools have already proven useful.
Videa is a paid clinical platform sold to practices and DSOs; there's no free patient-facing tier because there's no patient-facing product.
Different shapes entirely. Videa prices as a clinical AI platform per practice or per location (quote-based, DSO-oriented). Our free tier is genuinely free forever (team chat, secure file transfer, and patient passports) and the paid platform is a flat per-practice subscription covering phones, intake, verification, notes, recall, and payments. Plenty of practices run both: Videa reading the radiographs, us running everything around them.
Nothing to migrate. The two systems barely touch. We connect to 60+ practice management systems and read from your existing chart; Videa reads your imaging. If you already run Videa, adding Intake Dental doesn't disturb it, and vice versa.
No. Videa has no patient-owned record, no patient app, and no wallet pass. Their patient-facing surface is Patient View. A chairside display the practice shows on its own screen to explain x-ray findings. The patient leaves with nothing to carry. The Dental Passport is the opposite: the patient owns it, keeps it in their phone's wallet, and takes it to any office.
No, and we don't claim to. We have no FDA clearance for diagnosis and don't offer diagnostic AI. If AI caries detection is what you want, Videa (or a similar cleared product) is the right purchase. We're the wrong tool for that job.
Yes, and it's a sensible combination. Videa reads the radiographs at the chair; we answer the phone, verify the insurance, collect the forms, draft the note, chase the recall, and send the patient home with a record they own. Neither touches the other's data path.
Both reduce charting time. Theirs is ambient capture during the appointment; ours drafts from your schedule and lands in a dashboard queue for doctor review and signature, alongside the rest of the front-office automation. If notes are the only thing you need, either can work; ours makes more sense when you also want the phones, intake, and verification handled by the same system.
Their diagnostic detection products have multiple FDA 510(k) clearances. That's real and worth respecting. Their Patient View education display is explicitly not FDA-cleared, per their own site. Nothing we make is a diagnostic device, so FDA clearance doesn't apply to our products.
Videa is a diagnostic AI company; we're a front-office and patient-record company. The comparison people actually mean is usually about the patient: Videa can show a patient their x-ray on the practice's screen, and that's genuinely useful for case acceptance. Only one of us sends the patient home owning their dental record, in their wallet, in their language, ready for the next office, whoever that turns out to be.
Let's be straight: Videa is very good at something we don't do. Their FDA-cleared AI reads radiographs chairside and flags caries, bone loss, and calculus while the patient is in the chair. We don't diagnose anything. We answer your phones, verify insurance, run intake, draft notes, and give your patients a dental record they own and carry. The two overlap in a few places, and one capability exists on only one side.
